Farmscape is seeking two part-time sales representatives to offer its installation and maintenance of vegetable gardens to interested residents, schools, restaurants and other institutions, one in the South Bay and one in the Claremont area.

Farmscape is a start-up bent on making a positive impact on the food system by growing high-quality homegrown produce in the LA metro area. We do this by eliminating the effort and complexity required to install or maintain a productive vegetable garden, providing residents and institutions with the materials and ongoing support necessary for their garden to flourish.

We strive to create a friendly and dynamic atmosphere for staff that encourages collaboration between departments and prizes innovation.

Commission-based compensation structure, plus hourly pay for training during the first three months, and possibly beyond. We anticipate the position could grow into full-time work.

Landscape Irrigation / Green Plumber

Seeking a landscape irrigation specialist / environmentally conscious plumber in the

Pasadena / Los Angeles area to join La Loma Development Company, an award-winning

General Contractor and Landscape Design-Build firm. Candidate must have previous

experience designing, planning, budgeting and problem solving a variety of plumbing

and irrigation situations, including but not limited to copper soldering, brass valves,

mp-rotators, netafim/hdpe, abs sewer, and installing, wiring, and programming timers.

Experience with greywater conversions, rainwater gutter and barrels, aquaculture,

ponds, and pools are big pluses. Knowledge of weather and soil based irrigation

controllers, as well as knowledge of watering requirements for native and edible plants

very desirable.

We value the candidate that takes pride in their work, is willing to learn new, alternative

techniques, is self-motivated and proactive in problem solving, and is a team player

and interested in growing with the company. The chosen candidate will by responsible

to the president and management, and will sometimes run a crew. Truck or van is a

must. Bilingual is preferred, but not required. Flexibility to adapt to changing job duties

is required. Employment is for 32-40 hours per week. Compensation and benefits are

commensurate with experience.

What we need: A dynamic, science-minded, education-driven performer to deliver our multimedia presentations on climate change to high school students. (Check out our trailer to get a taste of our presentation.)

You'll be in the trenches with high school students, communicating the essential science of climate change in a lively, fun and unforgettable way. After each presentation you'll be working with youth to create ACE Action Teams that work on a variety of climate change projects, from planting school gardens to throwing green proms. We also need a power-networker to build partnerships with schools, nonprofits, celebrities and companies - anything from LAUSD to Cameron Diaz.

You'll work from home and remotely with a local team when you're not in schools, with occasional meetings with our other regions, so please be comfortable with that.

SHARE! the Self-Help And Recovery Exchange is a non-profit community self-help center in Los Angeles, California, where more than 25 different types of self-help support groups (including 12-step groups) meet each week. SHARE! is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Gardening Coordinator to grow vegetables and fruit in our Collaborative Housing program. Collaborative Housing brings together disabled people to live in a house with a garden. Working with volunteers and residents, the Gardening Coordinator will launch and nurture 30 vegetable and fruit tree gardens at Collaborative Houses and Sober Livings throughout Los Angeles County. As the gardens grow, the Coordinator will work with volunteers and mentors to weigh and monitor the produce and help residents incorporate it into their diets.

Description of Duties and Responsibilities
--Recruits and supervises volunteers to create gardens
--Provides linkages with gardening resources and supplies in the community, including getting materials donated
--Works with individual houses helping volunteer gardeners and residents resolve gardening issues, including composting, watering, soil mediation
--Maintains contact and documents participants¡¦ gardening progress for outcome data collection, including weighing produce
--May work weekends or be on call for problems that may arise after hours

Qualifications for position: AA degree highly preferred but not required, valid Driver¡¦s license and insurance required, experience with gardening
Supervisory Relationships: Reports to Peer Bridger Coordinator, Ability to work with residents in Collaborative Housing and Sober Living
Skills and knowledge: Knowledge of fruit and vegetable gardening, good interpersonal skills, organizational skills, knowledge of 12-step or self-help support groups

Prior experience required:
--Two to three years experience with vegetable and fruit tree gardening
--Bilingual a plus
--Knowledge of gardening conditions and needs in Los Angeles County
--Teaching experience preferred
--Personal experience attending 12-step or other self-help support groups required

Personal qualities: Honest, hard-working, compassionate, open-minded, passionate about gardening, organized, self-starter
